Bright lights of Nashville beckon for Jersey singer

A young Jersey singer has been picked to represent the UK at the home of country music in America.

Frankie Davies (22) was chosen by legendary BBC Radio 2’s DJ “Whispering Bob Harris” as one of three artists who will perform a set at the Americanas Music Conference in Nashville, Tennessee next month.

The well-known presenter of country, roots and Americana music made famous by the "Old Grey Whistle Test" show in the 1970s will be hosting the sets in America on 19 September and playing them out on his Radio 2 show during the Nashville season.

It’s been a great year for Frankie who released her first official single “Superman” on Father’s Day – a tribute to her dad who she says inspired and encouraged her growing up.

She’s played at the UK’s biggest Country Music show “County 2 Country” at London’s O2 and at the Isle of Wight and Barn on the Farm Festivals and has recently toured with The Shires.

She also headlined Groove De Lecq at the beginning of this month and is booked to open Jersey Live’s main stage. She will also be performing with her band in a one-off show at the Island’s Blue Note Bar on 4 September and is playing at the community street party “The Halkett Hoedown” for Headway on 7 September.

Frankie is also busy working on a video for her new single “Shivers” and a 5 track EP due out next year.

The young singer is a graduate of Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and was presented with her degree by the man himself.
