A Jerseyman will be bringing the island to the national sporting stage, as he plays his first round men’s doubles match at Wimbledon today.
Stuart Parker will be taking to the court this afternoon, having been given a wildcard for the main draw of the men’s doubles.
Though the 23-year-old was beaten in his singles qualifying match last week to Israel's Dudi Sela, Parker and his tennis partner, James Ward, will today be facing off against another UK pairing: Dominic Inglot and Luke Bainbridge.
Mr Parker is currently the the 17th-ranked British player in the ATP standings, and 570th overall in their singles list.
It follows his announcement last year of his ambition to become a ‘Top 100 tennis player’, having already racked up an impressive string of achievements, including winning both the singles and doubles titles at the Gibraltar Island Games.
