Keep up to speed with fellow artists

We’ve all heard about speed dating but what about a quick get-together with people who share your passion for the Arts?

Arty Islanders can meet face-to-face next month and get their creative juices flowing at a special speed networking event organised by the Jersey Arts Trust in the Upper Bar at Jersey Opera House.

The Trust says there’s no need to work on your best “pick-up line” for the event on Wednesday 12 November as the meetings are professionally not romantically focused but they hope it will lead to more exciting partnerships developing between the island’s visual, performing and multimedia artists.

A whistle will blow at the end of each two-minute session when it will be time to move seats and meet up with someone new.

The Trust’s director Tom Dingle said: “We are always amazed at the diversity and range of interests and ability represented in the Island, yet people can feel isolated within their practice.

“The purpose of the event is simply to provide a platform for creative people to come and meet each other in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. I’d encourage anyone with an interest in the arts or creative industries to come down and say hello.”

All those taking part should bring along their business cards, note pad and pen and a portfolio of their work to show other speed networkers.
