Jersey Heritage is now welcoming guests to Kempt Tower Heritage Let in St Ouen’s Bay. As the latest addition to the list of Jersey Heritage Lets available, Kempt Tower will also be the largest property available to hire.
Kempt Tower has been restored as part of the Forts and Towers project with funding from the Tourism Development Fund and will accommodate up to 12 people.
With three floors, including a roof terrace with beautiful views across St Ouen’s Bay, the Tower has been finished to the highest standards with a large living area, fully appointed kitchen and shower rooms. It will be available to hire throughout the year for both visitors and Jersey residents.
Built in 1834 as a defensive tower against possible French invasion, Kempt Tower was once used to house ammunition and troops along with a cannon fixed to a rotating platform on the roof.
Jon Carter, Director of Jersey Heritage, said: “Heritage is a matter of use of or lose it and the conversion of these buildings for public enjoyment has given them a viable future. Thousands of people have enjoyed staying in them. They have generated a lot of interest internationally. And at the same time the rental income has created a significant fund to give them the long term care they deserve.”
