While the artistic process can be long and arduous, it makes breakthrough moments even sweeter.
That was the lesson this year for Kirsty Garcia, who specialises in abstract forms created with inks and acrylics.
While many of her pieces are on paper or canvas, Kirsty Garcia also loves to scale her work up and paint directly onto walls to create large-scale murals. Due to her choice of medium, each of her paintings is a bespoke piece with different colours blending together in unique ways to create a sense of movement and freedom.
Sharing her favourite work this year, Kirsty said: "I have a had a vision for a while of what I wanted to create and the direction in which to take my work in and this was a real breakthrough with all the experiments that I went through to get this result."

She added: "This piece is full of movement and depth and has a luxurious feel with the touches of gold running through it.
"To me, this painting is a highlight of 2020 and has given me inspiration for my next collection."
