Former Chief Minister joins Opera House Board

Tuesday 02 July 2024

The former Chief Minister has been announced as the newest member of the Jersey Opera House's Board of Directors.

Deputy Kristina Moore will join five other Non-Executive Directors who were appointed at the end of last year.

In a post on social media, the Jersey Opera House said that Deputy Moore will bring "invaluable experience in strategic leadership and cultural advocacy".

Before joining the States Assembly in 2011, Deputy Moore was a broadcast journalist and anchor for Channel Television for many years.

Posting on social media, the politician described it as an "exciting time to join the Board" amid ongoing refurbishments to the Opera House.

The refurbishment of the Grade 2 listed building, which has been closed since 2020, is being carried out by Ashbe Construction and is due to be completed in December at a cost £12.7 million.

Islanders could be enjoying performances in the Opera House again by spring next year.

The five other Opera House NEDs are:

  • Bruno Santos Costa – Business owner of The Watchmaker and Portuguese travel agent Estrela Travel

  • Louise Ashworth – IOD-qualified strategic marketer

  • Ryan Williams – Senior HR professional who is currently head of the Performing Arts Development Group, which represents the local performing arts community

  • Christine Jasper – Trained singer who worked as an artist manager at a leading classical music concert agency

  • Laura Robertson – Lawyer with a lifelong love of theatre who has served on numerous boards across the arts, heritage and sports sectors

Hayley Routier, the founder of social enterprise Dancing in Jersey and production lead at Reel Creative, also joined the board last year as a trainee.
