Lawyer charged with ‘glassing’ offence

A 30-year-old lawyer has appeared in Jersey’s Magistrate’s Court charged with a grave and criminal assault, and being disorderly on licensed premises.

It is alleged that Daniel Healy, who has joint British and New Zealand citizenship, attacked a man at the club in the Royal Yacht Hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It is claimed he used a glass and that the alleged victim needed 20 stitches to a face wound.

Mr Healy has been granted bail. He was ordered to pay £5,000 as surety. 

He is due to appear again in the Magistrate’s Court for an interim hearing on 27 August.
