Liberty Wharf will soon be getting a brand-new Liberation-themed mural as a “tribute to Jersey’s heritage.”
Heather Brown, the founder of Jersey-based arts collective RampArts, was recently asked if her organization would be interested in partnering on a mural project to fill a large wall lacking creativity in Liberty Wharf.
This is not the first time RampArts have taken on a mural project, having flexed their creativity on artworks at Grouville Station and Pontac bus shelters, the Animal Shelter, and in the yard space behind Autism Jersey's charity shop.
The collective has also redesigned the Rice Bowl mural at Greve d'Azette as "a nod to Jersey's heritage and the Chinese restaurant next door, with Jersey lilies and peonies", Heather explained.

This time, the theme will be Jersey's Liberation – which is apt, considering the location.
Heather said: "The theme behind the Liberty Wharf project is a tribute to Jersey's heritage and the history of our island's liberation. We hope that we will celebrate this, as well as adding colour and vibrancy to the area.
"We will be engaging with the surrounding businesses as we finalize the design to ensure that everyone is happy with it, and will look to set a date for painting when the sun shines for us."

The mural will be worked on by artists Paige le Geyt and PJ Thomson, who worked on RampArts's most recent mural at Millbrook Park.
Heather said: "Paige was interested in providing an interactive design for neurodivergent children to enjoy and I still get videos and photos sent to me from families visiting the park to say how much they love it!"
Pictured: While the shopping centre only opened in 2010, it neighbours Liberation Square which is rich in history and takes its name from the day islanders were liberated from German Occupation.
"As with all of our murals," Heather added, "we are continually thankful to Robbialac and CIN Paints for their continued sponsorship and support. The paint they provide is wonderful to work with, and never fails to add colour, creativity, and smiles to our island's areas."
