From lifeboats... to Lovejoy's... to lattes

Friday 28 July 2023

A former antique shop in St. Aubin has become the site of the newest coffee shop in the village.

The Loft has recently opened on the Neuve Route site formerly occupied by Lovejoy Antiques.

The premises also housed a lifeboat station in the early 18th century before the St. Aubin sea wall was moved to its existing position.

Owner Dave Double, who formerly worked for a European hotel chain, spent 18 months converting the site with business partner Rob Morton.

He eventually plans to employ 14 staff.

The venue is currently trading as a café, closing at 17:00 daily, but during August will expand into pizzas, with a licence to serve alcohol to diners and opening hours extending into the evening.
