Rounding off Express's festive music series is a poignant tribute from a local musician for all those who are struggling with heartache and loss over the holidays.
Maisie Robertson just graduated from BIMM Brighton with a first class honours in Professional Musicianship and released her first single in April.
For Express, she has shared a cover of Joni Mitchell's 'River'.
Explaining her choice, Maisie said: "This song is about the recent split of a romantic relationship, with Joni needing to escape her immediate surroundings and emotional connections.
"...The holidays can be such a tough time for so many people who are apart from or who have lost loved ones and this song is my interpretation of that.
"I wanted to do a very simple version to really let the message behind the song shine through."
