The Enid Quenault Health and Wellbeing Centre will be the home of many services currently based at Overdale, including the Child Development Therapy Centre, Memory Assessment, Diabetes and Endocrinology, and Audiology.
This plan - to move from Westmount to out West - was part of the now-superseded Our Hospital Project, but it has been incorporated into this Government’s ‘New Healthcare Facilities’ programme.
However, whereas the previous project envisaged a five-year temporary ‘decant’ while a ‘healthcare campus’ was built at Overdale, the new plan predicts Les Quennevais will be a medical base for a lot longer, potentially up to 25 years.
As the Enid Quenault Health and Wellbeing Centre gets ready to open, it is likely that its name will enter the island vernacular in some shape or form.
