Thursday 22 August 2024

Year 11 students across the island are today finding out how they did in their GCSE exams.

Express is sharing each school's results as they roll in...

Le Rocquier School

Le Rocquier School headteacher Andrew Adkin praised students' "excellent" set of results, saying he was proud of every single one of them.

He said: "Le Rocquier students have shined brightly again this academic year.

"They have produced an excellent set of GCSE results.

"Our students showed tremendous resilience and determination towards their exams, and we are proud of each and every one of them.

"This cohort has shown all of the attributes our school aims to instil in young people during the last two years of GCSE preparation, and they are now well prepared for whatever they decide to do in the future.

"On behalf of the students, I would like to thank my colleagues and our parents/careers for supporting our amazing students throughout their GCSE journey.

"Today is an occasion for celebration and we wish our Class of 2024 all the very best in their future endeavours."

Jersey's overall results

Message from the Education Minister...

The Education Minister, Rob Ward, released a video this morning in which he praised students' "effort, determination and discipline".

He said: "Today is a day you'll remember for a long time and one that marks the start of your next chapter. Whatever you have chosen to do next, I wish you the very best of luck and encourage you to seize every opportunity you are presented with.

Hautlieu

Hautlieu's interim headteacher, Kate Blackhall, released a statement this morning congratulating students.

She said the school had had an "overall increase in the number of top grades achieved".

"The energy and ambition of this group of Hautlians has been truly inspiring," she said, "and we look forward to continuing to see them excel in the future.

"We are also incredibly grateful to the parents and teachers who have worked so hard to support the students in their achievements."

The school boasted a "phenomenal" set of results, with 90% of students achieving passes in at least five GCSEs, including English and Maths.

40% of all grades were of 7 and above, the equivalent of an A under the old system.

The school reminded students that exams are "not the sole indicator of a student's potential or future success" but that they reflected the strength of the school community.

Newly-appointed head, Matthew Burke, said: "I am thrilled to join Beaulieu Convent School at such an exciting time and to witness firsthand the remarkable achievements of our students.

"These results are not just a reflection of the hours of hard work invested by both staff and students but also of the unwavering support from parents and the wider school community.

"I am looking forward to working with these talented students, as well as those joining us in Sixth Form, to continue pushing the boundaries of what they can achieve.

"Today, we celebrate not just the grades but the determination, resilience, and potential of each and every student."
