There’s a special reward on offer for any islanders who commit themselves to a turkey-busting, Christmas calorie-crunching walk this New Year’s Day.
Anyone who joins the National Trust's annual 'Turkey Buster' walk around the beautiful green lanes of the Parish of St. John, led by local guide Bob Tompkins, 1 January will be treated to chocolates and a nip of sloe gin at the Parish Hall afterwards.
Islanders are invited to meet in the carpark at St. John’s School at 11:30.
The walk will then go up La Rue du Temple, all the way through the lanes of St. John to La Rue des Buttes and back again.
After the walk, chocolates and a nip of sloe gin will be available to fortify everyone in the Parish Hall before returning to the car park.

No pre-booking is required and dogs on leads are welcome.
The walk will also offer an opportunity to donate to the Coastline Campaign which aims to ensure that the remaining areas of unspoilt coastline are permanently protected, clean and healthy, rich in wildlife and accessible for both Islanders and visitors to enjoy. The charity has pledged to permanently safeguard a further 1,000 vergées of unspoilt coastline over the next twenty years.
Walkers are encouraged to wear suitable footwear and outer clothing.
