Look and learn – Highlands College to stage Open Evening

Saturday 28 October 2017

The public’s being invited to find out more about what goes on at Highlands College.

In what the college is describing as a “first of its kind” islanders are being given the chance to view the campus and meet students and staff.

It’s hoped future students, their family and friends, former students, and businesses will all take advantage of the Open Evening which is taking place on Wednesday from 16:00 until 20:00, to find out what’s new at the college.

Event co-ordinator Aaron Labey says: “the event will feature live demonstrations, showing visitors the outstanding standard of practical learning which takes place at the college. Whether you are of GCSE/Sixth Form age and leaving school; wanting to upskill; learn something new or enhance your career; Highlands College has something for everyone.”

The event is being organised in association with SandpiperCI.

Steve Lewis, Principal at Highlands College adds: “I am delighted that we at Highlands are opening our doors to showcase the range of work that we do at the college. Our partnership with SandpiperCI is providing the support to enable all islanders to experience the different kinds of training and courses that we offer. Come and sample the different trades and skills and see for yourself how Highlands is leading the way in learning differently”.

Tony O’Neill, Chief Executive Officer at SandpiperCI said: “SandpiperCI are delighted to partner Highlands College Open Evening. This support mirrors our commitment to providing fulfilling and varied career opportunities across the Group, whilst creating a forum for the SandpiperCI team to demonstrate some of those rewards that a career in Retail has to offer, by sharing a little insight into the benefits associated with working for a premier employer and retailer of choice in the islands”.

Parking is available on the college field upon entry from St Saviour’s Hill in addition to Hautlieu School car park upon entry from Bon Air Lane. On arrival all visitors are encouraged to arrive at the Highlands College Reception. Guided tours are being organised.
