A multi-agency major incident training exercise is to be held at the Elizabeth Terminal this week, with the public being advised not to worry if they see actors "who may appear to be in distress".
The Government has announced that members of the Jersey Resilience Forum – including Ports of Jersey, the Jersey Customs and Immigration Service and the emergency services – will all be involved in the exercise between 9:00 and 14:00 on Tuesday 8 October.
The training scenario will involve testing the organisations' emergency response in establishing a "survivor reception centre".
In a statement, the Government said that members of the public "should be reassured that the blue-light activity in the area will be due to this training exercise" and not an incident.
"There will also be volunteer actors serving in various roles, who may appear to be in distress or in need of medical attention," the statement added.
The Terminal will close to the public at 08:30 on Tuesday, but there will not be any travel disruption as there are no shipping movements scheduled during the training exercise.
