Major make-up retailer Sephora on its way to Jersey

Local make-up lovers will soon be able to access a mix of exclusive international brands ranging from Milk to Rare Beauty as Sephora sets up TWO shops on the island.

The French beauty giant, which is owned by luxury goods group LVMH, bought Jersey-founded online cosmetics retailer FeelUnique last year.

This week, it has been confirmed that a brand switchover will be happening next week.

Cosmopolitan reported on Friday that the FeelUnique website will be replaced by a dedicated UK Sephora site, bringing online shipping to the UK for the first time. Any points built up via FeelUnique Rewards will be transferred to Sephora.

The magazine added that Sephora’s first official UK store will open in Spring 2023 and that both of Jersey’s physical FeelUnique stores - based on the St. Helier high street and Les Quennevais  “will also become Sephora stores, timing TBC”.

On Tuesday, a planning application was put forward to update the signage at FeelUnique’s St. Brelade premises to reflect Sephora’s iconic black and white striped branding.

The proposals, which have been assessed as 'minor', remain before Jersey's Planning Department for a decision.

FeelUnique was founded in Jersey by Aaron Chatterley and Richard Schiessl in 2005. In 2011, the business bought Au Caprice on King Street.

Palamon Capital Partners then bought 56% of the business in 2012 for £26m.

In 2017, they were said to be investigating a sale of the company.

The opening of the new stores will mark the first time Sephora has had physical stores in the British Isles for more than 20 years.
