Children will soon have a more colourful space to get lost in a good book.
The Jersey Library team are working to create a more inspiring place for youngsters to develop a lifelong love of reading.
It will be the first major facelift to the children's area since the building opened over 25 years ago and once redecorated will have new, flexible shelving, new computers and new children’s furniture.
Chief Librarian Ed Jewell said: “We want to create a library that inspires and excites, with comfortable seating and colourful shelving, a space where you can get lost in a good book, take part in great activities and get online to do your homework.”
Education Minister Deputy Rod Bryans said: “We want the Children’s Library to be a place where people relax, have fun and fall in love with reading. This work will give it a new lease of life and make it even more child-focussed. Thank you to the library team for their vision and hard work.”
While the work is carried out, the Children’s Library has been temporarily moved closer to the front of the Library. Customers can also use the Branch Library at Les Quennevais and the mobile library.
