A 32-year-old man accused of grabbing a woman by the neck and hitting her with a glass ashtray is to face trial in May.
Andrzej Sudol appeared in the Royal Court on Friday, where he pleaded not guilty to two counts of grave and criminal assault.
One of the counts related to an alleged incident between 8 November and 16 November, where he was accused of throwing the woman onto a bed and grabbing her by the neck.
Mr Sudol is also accused of hitting the woman with a glass ashtray on 18 November.
He is now remanded in custody, and will next appear in court for a pre-trial directions hearing on 7 March, before his trial by jury on 16 May.
He appeared before Deputy Bailiff Robert MacRae, sitting with Jurats Charles Richard Blampied and Jane Ronge.
