The driver of a Range Rover who ended up travelling on the wrong side of the road has been fined by the Magistrate's Court.
Louis Jouault had been trying to overtake the vehicle in front of him on Route de la Haule.
The incident happened at 14:00 on 20 July.
St. Brelade Centenier Amanda Wright told the Magistrate's Court that Jouault had pulled out of his lane in order to overtake the car in front but found there was a cyclist in front of it and no space for him.
He was unable to pull back into his own lane and had to continue on the wrong side – driving on the right past a traffic island that bore a large ‘Keep left’ sign.
Jouault said: "I’m sorry. The traffic was moving very slowly and I was late for a doctor’s appointment."
No one was injured in the incident.
He was fined £800 for careless driving.
