Gerard Eamon Maguire, 49, has been charged with attempted murder and appeared at the Magistrate's Court today.
Maguire, of Hampshire Gardens, Aquila Road, St Helier, who wore a blue shirt in court, appeared only to confirm his name, age and address.
Centenier Paul Huelin read the charge to the court, saying: "On October 30th at the premises known as 19 Journeaux Court, Gerard Eamon Maguire attempted to murder Shaun Patrick Howard."
Mr Howard, 63, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital following an incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.
No application was made for bail and Maguire was remanded in custody until the next hearing on November 28th.
Maguire was remanded in custody by Magistrate Bridget Shaw.
