Police are seeking witnesses after the death of a man who fell from a wall by the harbour died in hospital – apparently after being chased by another man.
Gavin Le Cornu (29) died in hospital today after falling 30 feet from Pier Road on to the pavement below at around 6.30 pm yesterday evening.
He had been taken to hospital immediately and had been in a critical condition overnight.
Mr Le Cornu’s family have asked for their privacy to be respected.
It is believed that he had been chased from Pier Road heading east when he fell from the wall opposite La Folie Inn, just before 6.30 pm.
Police have been speaking to several witnesses, carried out CCTV and made house-to-house enquiries as well as doing forensic work but they particularly want to speak to two men who they believe were in the area of Commercial Buildings at the time.
One is described as being in his mid 60’s, around 5’8” with greying short dark brown hair and short stubble. He has light brown eyes and was wearing a blue crew neck t-shirt.
The other is described as being slim built, in his early 20’s, around 5’8” with short mousey-coloured hair and was wearing a round neck dark blue t-shirt.
