Man to face trial for 23 counts of sex abuse

A 49-year-old man who is accused of 23 counts of sex abuse on children in the 70s and 80s will face a seven-day assize trial in the Royal Court next year.

Anthony John Quant is defended by Advocate Sue Pearmain and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Mr Quant is accused of having sexually abused three different children, two girls and a boy. The alleged abuses took place between February 1978 and 1989. The accusations include 10 counts of indecent assault, eight counts of rape and five counts of sodomy.

He was charged on 6 July by the Police, working alongside the Law Officers' Department. He appeared in the Magistrate's Court the following day where the magistrate declined jurisdiction.

Mr Quant will face a seven-day assize trial starting on 22 February 2018. He has been released on conditional bail.
