A young girl who reported a 41-year-old man after he gave her a sexually suggestive note has been commended by police for preventing the same thing happening to another child.
Krzystof Kamil Lis was today found guilty of inciting a sexual act with a child and possessing indecent images of children after a three-day trial.
In September 2022, Lis approached the 14-year-old girl whilst she was walking to school and handed her a note which said: “You can have me anytime you want.”
He told the girl not to tell anyone about it.
The girl reported what had happened to a teacher, and the police were then called.
Officers returned to the scene the following day to try and identify the man.
Lis was seen in the area, and matched the description given by the schoolgirl.
He was arrested and, as part of the investigation, his phone was seized and examined.
The device was found to contain over 40 indecent images of children.
Police Sergeant James Clark said: "The girl in this case must be commended for coming forward and reporting this to her teacher and stopping Lis doing this to another young girl.
"The States of Jersey Police are committed to catching those who offend in this way and ensuring that they are put before the courts."
