Man hospitalised following farm fire

Wednesday 22 January 2025

A man is in hospital after a fire broke out at a farm in Grouville over the weekend.

Firefighters attended the property following a call from a concerned neighbour early on Sunday morning, who believed a man was trapped inside the burning building on The Three Oaks Vineries site.

The man was treated at the scene before being handed over to paramedics and taken to the General Hospital, where he is still being treated.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

A statement from the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said when crews arrived, the property was "well alight".

There was a smoke alarm at the property but it was not going off when firefighters arrived, according to the fire service.

The statement continued: "Firefighters entered in breathing apparatus to locate the person believed to be inside.

"One man was brought out to safety and the fire was quickly brought under control."
