Missing woman found "safe and well" after four days

A 65-year-old woman who has been missing since Sunday has been found, Police have announced.

In a statement released shortly after 08:15 this morning, Police described Elizabeth McDougall as "safe and well", adding that she is now receiving care at Jersey General Hospital.

She went missing on Sunday 17:00 on Sunday (26 July) when she was dropped off at at Cedar Ward, a St. Saviour mental health facility where she is a resident, after a weekend at home.

However, when Mrs McDougall did not return to the ward, mental health staff raised the alarm.

An air search using infrared imaging was carried out in the early hours of Monday morning, and a major search involving six local authorities and more than 1,400 islanders on Facebook followed.

Yesterday, Jersey Water agreed to lower the water at one of its Queen's Valley reservoirs to assist, while the Coastguard agreed to provide underwater equipment.

However, Police announced this morning that she has now been found.

"Thankfully Liz has been found this morning safe and well and is now receiving care at the General Hospital after several days and nights being spent outside," a spokesperson said.

"Her family have been informed and we want to thank everyone involved for their efforts over the last few days."

It remains unclear when and where Mrs McDougall was found.

Express has requested confirmation from Police and is awaiting a response.
