Money pours in to bring Ryan home

Monday 13 October 2014

In just a few days the friends of a young Jersey father who died in a tragic car crash in Australia last week have raised the money they need to bring his body home to Jersey for burial.

Over 350 people have donated and left tributes on a special “Go Fund Me” page set up to repatriate 26 year-old Ryan MacMinn’s body.

And besides the online fundraising, friends and former colleagues of the popular young man also collected on the doors of town bars, including Ryan's former place of work Kasbah, and more friends organised a raffle to raise money - with prizes donated by Fortuna Euronics and Bean Around The World.

Ryan was one of two people killed in a car crash in Australia on Tuesday afternoon, seven kilometres north of the town of Elliott at around 3.15 pm on Tuesday.

A posting on the Northern Territory Police Force’s Facebook page reported that no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Friends of Ryan – who was a father of two – have described him as a special and lovely man with a great future ahead who was “living his dream and reaching his goals.”
