Morgan tribute: “An honest and good natured young man”

Tuesday 07 July 2015

Tributes have been paid to 16-year-old Morgan Huelin who died on Sunday morning, and flowers have been left on the quiet country lane where he was found.

Morgan, a Victoria College pupil who lived in St Lawrence, was described by head teacher Alun Watkins as “a genuinely honest and good natured young man” whose death has left the school community “incredibly stunned”.

One message posted at the school said “It was a privilege knowing you: never failed to make people happy, and always smiling yourself”.

Readers on Bailiwick Express’s Facebook page also left messages of condolence – one wrote: “Just tragic, thoughts to his family”.

Mr Watkins’ statement, delivered at the school, spoke of a charismatic and independent young man, and emphasised that pupils are being given support after the traumatic news.

He said: “The staff and Governors of Victoria College would like to extend their heartfelt condolences and prayers to the parents, family and friends of Morgan Huelin who has left us under such tragic circumstances.

“Morgan was highly respected by both staff and his peers at the College, not least because of his academic ability, charismatic personality and strong sense of independence.  Morgan had varied interests.  He was an excellent guitarist and a fully supportive member of Dunlop House contributing to it in every way he could including shooting, rugby, football and hockey.

“The College will do all it can to offer support to those pupils, staff and families who have been affected by these heart-breaking events.

“We are all incredibly stunned that such a genuinely honest and good natured young man has been taken from us under these circumstances.”
