A number of islanders were recently shocked to have parcels delivered to their doors covered in a suspicious blue "yuck"... But what was it?
Among those to be affected was one St. Brelade parishioner, who received a nasty surprise when she received an Amazon package containing a much-awaited Christmas present for her dog last week.
Immediately, she took to Facebook and posted: "Did anyone else receive their parcels today covered in blue yuck?
"It definitely was NOT coming from inside my parcel… It smells a bit like paint not sure what it is. Just glad I got to it before the dog did!"
Some others also reported having the same experience, and similarly wondered about the source of the gunk.
To help provide clarity, Express contacted Jersey Post, with an accompanying picture of the offending package, to see if they could offer an explanation.

Jersey Post was happy to investigate, with the Marketing Department's Sonia Ferri assigned to the case.
"I’ve spoken to all the Operational Managers, and no one seems to be aware of this issue or seeing a leak or any parcels in this state in the sorting office," she said.
In fact, it seemed that the gunge may not have come from Jersey Post at all.
"We do everything possible to prevent damage, but on some rare occasions, items get damaged as they pass through the postal network," the investigator added.
"When this happens, we usually put the item in a damaged bag with instructions to the recipient on what to do. If the item is too badly damaged to be delivered, we contact the customer directly."
So perhaps Jersey Post hasn't been infested by a mysterious ooze or even suffered a paint spillage? Like any good mystery, the simplest answer is often the best.
"From looking at the photo you’ve sent through, it looks like some sort of powder, maybe washing powder that has gotten wet in transit," Jersey Post's investigator surmised.
