A new Scouting group is opening in St Saviour this month giving more youngsters the chance to join the increasingly popular movement.
The New Beaver Scout Colony for six to eight-year-old boys and girls will meet at the Parish Hall where they will learn new skills and head off around the Island on adventures.
It's part of the 3rd Jersey (St. Saviour) Scout Group, one of seven across the Island that has two Beaver Scout Colonies, two Cub Scout Packs and two Scout Troops for scouts aged from six to 14.
Group Scout Leader, Hayley Dewar said “We have seen an increase in enquiries for young people wanting to join Scouting and we are excited as a new team of adult volunteers, all who have been Scouts themselves, come together to launch ‘Maple’ Beaver Scout Colony."
Constable of St. Saviour Sadie Renard said: “We are really pleased to see Scouting return to the heart of the Parish and wish the Beaver Scouts and their adult team every success as they begin their Scouting. I am certain they will become part of the Parish life and we look forward to seeing them at many of our community events.”
The ‘Maple’ Colony is being led by Gemma Colley, who has been involved in Scouting herself since the age of nine. She's joined by Stefanie Marsh, Louis Huard and Aimee Gallichan who have also all been involved in Scouting as young members before becoming adult volunteers.
