Specialist apartments for islanders with learning disabilities will form part of a new Andium development on Green Street, after Les Amis struck a deal to swap a hotel it had bought.
The block of 13 new apartments will form part of The Limes on Green Street.
Plans to create a facility for disabled islanders in the former Hampshire Hotel at Val Plaisant, which Les Amis had purchased for £3.3m, fell through last year.
Although the transformation of the hotel received approval in November 2023, the government suddenly withdrew its support the following March after concluding that the development was "too large" for the island's needs.
Today, it was confirmed that Les Amis had handed over the Hampshire Hotel site to Andium Homes and redirected their efforts towards The Limes.
The new Green Street site will provide the charity with 12 one-bedroom apartments and three parking spaces, plus a two-bedroom apartment which will be used for on-call staff subject to planning permission.

"We found this in The Limes.
"They say as one door closes, another opens. In this case 13 doors opened, and I couldn't be more thankful to Andium Homes for all their help and support."

The Limes, formerly used to house junior doctors, was demolished and replaced with a series of apartment buildings.
