There are five new bobbies on the beat after the officers were sworn in at Jersey's Royal Court yesterday.

The team of islanders - PCs James Alcock, Hannah Amy, Craig Fosse, Paul Hopper and Iain McCallum - are now set to go on a 10-week training course in Norfolk.

When they return, there'll be 10 more weeks of training before they start solo patrols.

The new recruits are joining just as Jersey Police have completed their recruitment campaign for 2019, which attracted 110 locally-qualified applicants.

87 - 35 of which are female - have so far made it through the first hurdle, with a series of mental and physical examinations to come.
