New U21 JFA head coach appointed

The Jersey Football Association has announced former senior Muratti captain James Scott as the new head coach of the U21s side.

His first match in charge will be the U21 Muratti which is due to take place in Guernsey on Sunday 24th April.

"I was delighted to be approached by the Jersey FA to take on this role and lead this Under 21 group into the upcoming Muratti fixture” said Mr Scott. “I believe there are some very exciting and talented players within this age group and my newly assembled coaching team and backroom staff are very much looking forward to working with the lads and preparing them as best we can. Our aim is simple....to win a game of football."

He will be supported by a set up of backroom staff, including Stuart Andre as assistant coach. "My coaching team, which is full of experience and knowledge, will challenge the players individually and collectively, but at the same time respectfully listen to their views."

”When we first meet up with the squad, which will be selected by the middle of March, I will be reminding them that currently we are in a bit of a rut as Guernsey have won the last five consecutive Under 21 Muratti fixtures. Our motivation must be to change that and bring the trophy back home with us to Jersey."

"On a personal note, I see this as a big responsibility and something I am very much looking forward to. I have started planning our training and team bonding schedule already. It's important for me to mix things up a little bit on that front. Hopefully all the lads will buy into what we are trying to do, as some of it will be a little bit different."

Mr Kennedy added: "He is extremely passionate about Jersey football and am certain that will rub off on everyone around him."
