Legendary broadcast journalist Sir Michael Parkinson has pulled out of this year’s Jersey Festival of Words due to a “mild” health problem.
The festival’s event, ‘An Evening with Sir Michael Parkinson’ has been called off due to the writer falling ill with a “medical condition requiring rest and recuperation.”
Speaking of the cancellation, Chairman of the festival committee Jennifer Bridge said that the team were “really disappointed” that Sir Michael cannot attend.
The event was going to see the stalwart interviewer become the interviewee as he was set to face a grilling from his very own son Mike.

For anyone who has bought tickets to the event at the island’s fifth ever literary festival, the committee have assured them that full refunds will be issued.
Jennifer said: “Full refunds will of course be offered to all those that bought tickets, and we thank all our supporters for their understanding. Thanks also go to event sponsors Carey Olsen, who have been firm supporters of the festival since its inception, and to our friends at the Jersey Opera House, who will be contacting ticket-holders to organise refunds from Monday. We wish Sir Michael a speedy recovery.”
A spokesperson for the journalist legend stated that the star sends his apologies but promises that he will return in the near future.
