A pedestrian fortunately managed to escape with only minor injuries after being hit by a car as they crossed a road in town yesterday, police officers have said in an appeal for more information.

The Force said the collision took place on Bath Street at approximately 10:55.

"A dark grey Toyota Prius was turning left from Charles Street onto Bath Street when it collided with a pedestrian crossing the road. The pedestrian was carrying some large sheets of wood," they said in a statement.

"The pedestrian sustained some minor bruising following the collision."

Police are now seeking to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, particularly the driver of a Black Range Rover which was travelling along Bath Street at the time and had to stop as a result of the incident.

Anyone who has more information is asked to call Police on 612612 or make an anonymous report by calling independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form.
