Islanders have been left puzzled after many reported hearing a strange noise last night – with nothing showing up on the island's earthquake monitor.
People took to social media to say they heard the bang at around 22:25 last night.
Vera Ferreira from St Lawrence posted on Facebook group 'Jersey Ask? Advise! Advertise!' asking: "What was that?"
Her query attracted almost 100 comments from islanders from St Ouen to St Clement confirming that they had also heard a strange noise.

"Sounded like someone banging on the window," wrote one islander. "Set all the dogs barking!"
A commenter said that it "sounded like it was someone trying to break in!" whilst another wrote: "I thought there was someone in the house."
"Sounded like concord flying over!" added another islander.
"I thought the neighbours cat was trying to get in the cat flap, went on a good 10 seconds," said a St Peter's Village resident.
"Nothing picked up on the camera. So glad I’ve seen this post, I can sleep now."

Whilst some speculated that it was likely to have been a minor earthquake, nothing could be seen on the radar.
Emergency services confirmed that there had been no related reports to the police or fire service.
