Pier Road car park and South Hill re-open after blast

Wednesday 14 December 2022

Some of the roads around the site of the recent major explosion on Pier Road have now been re-opened, including South Hill, and part of Pier Road itself, allowing access to the car park.

They were closed on Saturday following the blast at Haut du Mont flats, which is suspected to have been caused by a gas leak, and has led to the deaths of at least seven islanders.

From midnight last night, Pier Road was re-opened, up to and including the junction of South Hill to give access to the States Laboratory and Pier Road car park.

South Hill was also opened, giving access to Fort Regent Road, the Fort itself and La Petite Ecole nursery.

A section of Pier Road, closest to the Haut Du Mont flats remains closed, and screens have been put up around the blast site.
