Proposals to transform La Pulente holiday lets into homes

Tuesday 07 February 2023

Former self-catering holiday lets at La Pulente could be transformed into nearly 20 homes with electric bike and vehicle facilities, if planning approval is granted.

On behalf of La Rocco 2 Ltd, Mac Architectural Services has applied for permission to convert the 24 La Rocco self-catering apartments into 19 residential apartments.

A report accompanying the plans stated: "The original and oldest building on site, building two was constructed post-World War Two as a modest hotel known as The California Hotel.

"The building has been modified and extended over the years culminating in the general form we see today around the start of the 1990s."

The report added: "These proposals looks to make a positive contribution to the island's housing stock by refurbishing holiday lets to provide new family housing."

Proposals include a decrease in the number of existing units, which would see 11 two-bedroom and eight one-bedroom apartments replacing the existing six-two bedroom and 18-one-bedroom self-catering apartments.

According to documents submitted as part of the planning application, the new designs seek to respond to climate change, such as through the addition of electric bike and vehicle charging units as well as new bike and bin storage facilities.

The application, which has been graded 'Major', will be decided at a later date.
