Plans revealed for another office block on the Waterfront

Wednesday 04 January 2017

Plans have gone in for the next office block which will become part of the Jersey International Finance Centre, on the Waterfront.

At this stage, it's simply called “Building 6," and will be five storeys high, with a restaurant and café on the ground floor, and underground car parking.

If given the go ahead it’ll sit on a parcel of land at the top of the underpass to the east of the roundabout and will face the Fitness First complex and Tamba Arcade.

Planning’s website has all the details of the proposed building including floor plans and elevations as a well as a photomontage of how it’s envisaged it’ll look.

The building’s been designed by a leading UK firm MJP Architects. It’s already been responsible for two other office blocks on the site – Buildings 4 and 5. All have a similar steel and glass construction.

Building 4 was recently finished and work has now begun on Building 5.

An overall masterplan for the Esplanade Quarter was agreed by the States in 2008 and revised in 2011. It consists of plans for 620,000 square feet of office accommodation, 388 homes, a hotel / serviced apartments, shops, restaurants, 1,420 basement parking spaces and the lowering of La Route de la Liberation.

The Esplanade Quarter is being built in stages in response to market demand. In all six individual builds are planned creating a total of 45,000 square metres of office accommodation, in what is now being called the Jersey International Finance Centre.

The public have until the end of the month to submit any comments to Planning about the new application.
