A box of letters calling for Jersey residents to donate to fundraising appeal for an NHS hospital in the south of England were sent out to households in Dorset by mistake this week.
The letters – addressed to "Jersey Island Neighbour" – contain a plea for donations to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital to "help us fundraise and transform care for Jersey residents".
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity has recently launched a £1.5million fundraising appeal to provide additional items for the new six-storey building at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital "above and beyond what the NHS will fund".
This new building is the size of 115 tennis courts and known as the ‘BEACH’ for Birth, Emergency, Critical Care and Children’s Health Department.
This building will provide new purpose-built maternity and children’s units, an improved major emergency department and one of the biggest critical care units in the country.
"Patients from Jersey will benefit from these new enhanced services," according to the charity.

The letter explained: "Over the years we have treated many residents from Jersey who mainly use our vascular and specialist cancer services amongst others."
As part of the 'Back our BEACH' fundraising appeal, the flyer asks islanders to donate £20 to "transform care for Jersey residents".
Debbie Anderson, Head of Charity at University Hospitals Dorset confirmed that the letters were meant to be sent to islanders in early May, but were mistakenly distributed to households in Dorset this week instead.
She explained: "We have a greater number of people in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area that we are sending a similar version to and this started to go out this week.
"However, we are aware that there has been an error where a box of letters that were planned for residents in Jersey has gone to the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area in Dorset by mistake this week.
"We believe this is an isolated incident that has impacted a small proportion of our mailing distribution.
"We apologise for any confusion caused."
