Drivers saw Adrian "vacant and disorientated" - police appeal for more witnesses to come forward

Wednesday 23 December 2015

Almost 30 drivers who police believe saw missing Adrian Lynch have not yet come forward - and investigators say that some witnesses remember seeing him "vacant and disorientated" before his disappearance.

Police are still appealing for dozens of drivers who were driving through St Lawrence on the night Adrian Lynch went missing to come forward - they say 34 motorists drove past Thistlegrove in the early hours of 5 December, but only six of them have spoken to the police.

They say that 34 motorists went past the house between 11.50 pm on Friday 4 December and 4.45 am on Saturday 5 December - police say that they want to speak to all of them.

One of the drivers who has come forward saw the missing 20-year-old not long after midnight on Saturday - a police statement said: "The female driver says she was startled by his presence and describes him as looking vacant and disorientated, she confirms that she did not speak with him and saw him walk off."

The physical search for Adrian has been scaled down after more than two weeks of a huge effort led by the police that saw search teams, sniffer dogs, drone flights, divers and the Channel Islands Air Search Plane called into action.

Although that part of the operation has been cut back, investigators have not given up on what's been codenamed "Operation Panama" - they have detectives following up more than 100 evidential leads. They are still working on the theory that Adrian was inebriated after a works do, and was suffering from hypothermia and disorientation, and that he is probably dead.

They have emphasised that there is no evidence to suggest anything suspicious in his disappearance.

Investigators want to hear from the person or people who were parked in the road opposite David Hick Antiques at about twenty past midnight and who they believe were talking to a man they think was Adrian who was standing next to their car.

They are also still seeking a silver car, thought to be a Citreon Saxo or a Volkswagen Polo seen parked at around 11pm in the area around Club Carrefour, just over and hour before Adrian was dropped off by a taxi there.

Along with a driver, there were several other young men in the car at the time.

They believe images of a man caught on CCTV outside Thistlegrove just after 2 am that night are the last sightings of Adrian who hasn’t been seen since he was walking home from a night out 18 days ago.

Anyone with any information should call the police on 612612 or on the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
