Police are appealing for information after a woman’s handbag was stolen in the early hours of Sunday morning.

They handbag was reportedly snatched from the woman while she was walking in town between 01:00 and 02:00 on Sunday morning.

The theft was said to have happened as she was walked past St. Mark’s Church on St. Mark’s Road. Police say that after snatching the bag, the suspect ran off and was seen turning left onto Byron Road.

The suspected bag snatcher was described as being “of slim build, wearing a dark coloured hooded top and dark coloured skinny jeans or leggings".

The stolen handbag, which contained “personal items” and a “maroon coloured purse”, is said to be “red and cream in colour with a prominent lock”.

The Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident or those who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area prior to it.
