Police hunt pair in connection with "suspicious" van blaze

Monday 01 August 2022

Police officers investigating the “suspicious” vehicle fires in the early hours of this morning want the public’s help in identifying two men.

Firefighters were called to deal with the blaze at the layby on Victoria Avenue between First Tower and Millbrook just after 05:40 this morning, and closed the road and cycle track while they dealt with it.

According to Police, a “white Renault Traffic van was heavily alight on arrival”, while several other nearby cars were “damaged, including an Audi TT which along with the van was totally destroyed.”

Shortly after, officers labelled the incident “suspicious” and launched an investigation.

They are now appealing to the public for their help in tracking down two men seen in the area – “one in a white top and dark trousers and the other in a red top with blue shorts” and have released CCTV images, which you can check below.
