Two police officers have donated tickets for a top Manchester United game to a young resident of Les Amis.
Simon Routier, an avid Red Devils fan, will get to see the game with his dad, Paul on 4 April. Les Amis, provides essential services for those with learning disabilities – including Down’s syndrome and autism.
Duty Inspector Sian Gidley and PC Will Labey, who are season ticket holders at Old Trafford, decided to gift the tickets after seeing a Facebook post about how much Simon loved the Red Devils. He was invited to the new Police Headquarters to collect his precious tickets.
Sian explained: “Will and I donated these tickets in a personal capacity but it was great to welcome Simon and his dad to the new Police Headquarters to hand them over. We were so touched to see how happy Simon was at the news he would be going to a live game. I hope they enjoy watching a game at Old Trafford as much as we do."
Simon, who has Down's syndrome, said: “I can’t wait to go and see a real life football match. I can’t thank Sian and Will enough for giving me the tickets.”
His father Paul commented: “Sian and Will have made Simon’s year. Already he is so excited about the trip and I can imagine that I, and everyone at Les Amis, will be hearing about his football experience for many years to come.”
