Tributes paid to "lovely lady" after suspected stabbing

A 68-year-old former honorary policewoman, who police suspect was stabbed earlier this week, has been described as a "lovely lady" by her former colleagues.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Thursday on the body of Pamela Margaret Nisbet. The Police have opened what they are currently describing as a murder enquiry, called Operation Emery.

A 40-year-old man, who was known to Mrs Nisbet, is being held in Police custody, but so far no more details have been released.

She was taken to the hospital's Emergency Department on Tuesday night, but later died of her wounds.

In a statement, Police said they were called by the Ambulance Service to the suspected stabbing at a home in St. Peter around 18:56 yesterday (Tuesday 6 August).

Officials say no one else is being sought in relation to the investigation, and that Mrs Nisbet's family have been made aware.

Mrs Nisbet was a Member of the Law Society's Disciplinary Panel for a decade.

CEO of the Law Society, Neville Benbow, told Express “Pam Nisbet was a lovely lady and a true professional."

He recalled: "Amongst her service to the community she served on the Law Society’s Disciplinary Panel for ten years and was formerly a member of the Honorary Police, with a keen eye for fairness and justice.  Her passing is a tragedy; Pam will be sadly missed and we send our thoughts and prayers to her family at this difficult time.”

An official biography submitted when she was proposed for that role said she was the director of a property company, and her previous employment included extended periods as a company secretary and as a teacher of history and of young people with special needs.

Mrs. Nisbet worked as a Youth Court panellist at the Magistrate's Court from 1996 to 2005,and has also been a member of the St. Peter’s honorary police.
