Jersey Dairy is increasing production after major deals in the UK and Far East in pushed demand to new heights.
The dairy has taken on more staff to deal with demand from Ice Cream World, Britain’s largest national ice cream distributor, which will double UK sales of Jersey Dairy’s Soft-Mix Ice Cream in the UK this year. Sales of UHT milk to China through a Hong Kong distributor are also running three times higher than expected just three months into the deal – they have ordered another 300,000 litres because the product is so successful with Chinese consumers.
They have also won contracts to supply 100,000 litres of Soft-Mix Ice Cream over the next year to a café and cake shop chain, and another 100,000 litres a year to Butlins, who run three major seaside resorts at Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness.
The dairy's products are such a big hit out east that the Japanese Ambassador who recently visited the Island with his wife stopped for a tour at the dairy and went to inspect a herd of cows.
Jersey Dairy’s Head of Marketing and Export Bob Jones, who signed deals to supply Jersey Dairy products to Hong Kong and Shangai, is heading back to China to explore further opportunities.
