Q&A: Rocking out at Ronez Quarry

Thursday 25 July 2024

A local party band are set to 'rock' out at a charity concert in a very unique location next month.

Inside Job will headline the 'Rock Out at Ronez' concert at Ronez Quarry on Saturday 17 August, in aid of the Grace Crocker Foundation.

The ten-piece party band will be joined by other local artists, Annie Law and Rick Jones.

Express got in touch with Inside Job to find out more about the group behind the event...

Can you tell us a bit about yourselves?

"We’re a ten-piece party band, specialising in private, corporate and charity events and have been together for 17 years.

"We've had some incredible experiences along the way, including performing for royalty, and supporting 80s legends Spandau Ballet.

"The band comprises of drums, bass, keyboards, guitar, three-piece horn section and three vocalists.

"The line-up has changed a little over the years but the core band remains the same since an X-Factor-style audition process many years ago!

"We all come from different backgrounds and walks of life, but ultimately share the same passion to play great music and entertain as many people as possible!"

What made you choose the unique venue of Ronez Quarry for this event?

"It came about through a conversation between our sax player, Laura, and a friend of hers who works at Ronez.

"A conversation turned into reality shortly afterwards and we realised nobody has ever played there so why not be the first?!"

Have you done anything like this before? How are rehearsals going?

"Most of our performances are private events, so it’s actually quite rare that we do anything 'public'.

"So, it’s really nice to be able to put on our own show in a spectacular location for our friends, families and followers…and new friends too!

"We’re always practising, but there might be a couple of ‘surprises’ on the night…you’ll have to come along to find out!"

Who is the event for? What can the audience expect?

"Our primary aim is always to give people a great time, so this event is no different.

"It’s a chance to party with us and just enjoy some quality music from Rick, Annie and ourselves"

Why did you choose to raise money for the Grace Crocker Foundation at this concert?

"The Grace Crocker Foundation is a small charity and very close to our hearts.

"They provide financial and emotional support to families who are in the desperate situation of having to send their children to a UK hospital for medical treatment.

"They do an incredible job and deserve as much support they can get.

"It was the first suggestion one of the band made and we all agreed straight away.

"We’re super honoured and excited to be supporting them, so go get your tickets!"

The Grace Crocker Trust was founded in 2011 in memory of young islander Grace Crocker.

Her family left Jersey to live in Southampton for three months whilst she underwent heart surgery.

The charity supports local families who must also leave the island for their children's treatment.
