The third edition of Reasons to be Cheerful takes place today in front of a record audience: 500 extra tickets had to be issued earlier this week after the first 3,000 went flying.
This year, the electronic music showcase festival is offering a lineup of over 30 dance-inspired acts playing across four different stages from 12:00 to 23:00.
The team behind the festival, which includes events organiser Ben Newman, said they "smashed a number of booking ambitions" with this year's lineup. It includes headliners such as "ravers’ favourites" Primal Scream, the "enigmatic" The Blockheads - whose song "Reasons to be Cheerful Part 3" inspired the festival's name - and techno "heavyweight" Ben Sims.
"Never a party to stray away from the strongest of Drum & Bass" Reasons also invited DJ Marky & MC GQ and Molly Collins to carry-out "crowd smashing duties." Molly Collins, the Gentleman's Dub Club, DJ Food & Mungo's HiFI will also take turns behind the decks to bring their "...unique, sunshine filled sounds" to the stage.
Other artists, such as Jenna & the G's, Eva Lazarus, J-Felix, Butch, and Solardo to name only a few will also be on deck to keep the party going all day, from 12:00 to 23:00. Party-goers will be able to sway between the different stages to get a taste of a variety of genres. Indie, House, Techno, Drum & Bass, Dub, Hip Hop, Trip Hop and World are just a few of the sounds that will on the menu throughout the day.
The third edition will also see a new area added to the festival: the Snooty Fox, described as "a pub like no other." Local acts from the Songwriters Society will be on hand to get the bar "bouncing" while fine craft ales and ciders will help festival goers keep hydrated.
Described as the organisers as "an inclusive and unique way for lovers of all areas of dance music to come together", Reasons is off to another successful round. After two brilliant previous editions, the third one fell victim of its own success when online tickets sold out over a week ago.
The organisers managed to make "allowance" for an additional 500 dance enthusiast to "bask in the warmth of an impeccable and diverse line-up." They explained: "We have been over working the last few days to make sure that we are in a position to ensure that we can comfortably accommodate the extra people, our position is not necessarily 'bigger is better'; the quality of the experience for ticket holders is paramount. "
While the Reasons team say they are "unbelievably excited", there is no doubt the over 3,000 islanders who bought their tickets are too.
