Islanders who want to advocate for policing and hold the force to account have been encouraged to apply for the Jersey Police Authority.
The JPA, which acts as an oversight board for the States of Jersey Police, is made up of seven members who meet around eight times a year.
The role was described by the Department of Justice and Home Affairs as "a conduit for the views and concerns of the public in relation to policing locally", and "responsible for ensuring the States of Jersey Police are an efficient and effective police force".

Members commit on average six hours every three months, which comprises JPA meetings, visits to the police station, any other meetings, reading documents and supporting other members.
The JPA meets quarterly with the organisation's board and the Chief Officer's team, in addition to its own quarterly meetings as well as ad-hoc meetings.
Islanders who are interested in joining the JPA can arrange an informal discussion about the role by emailing Peter Horsfall at P.Horsfall@gov.je.
Applicants should send a CV and supporting statement to JHAGovernance@gov.je.
Applications close on 10 January 2025.
