A 67-year-old man has been fined £100 after driving through a red traffic light on Victoria Avenue.
The matter should have been dealt with at Parish Hall Inquiry level, but Douglas Turner never turned up.
He told the Magistrate's Court on Wednesday that, following the 30 April offence, he’d moved address and hadn’t got the letter telling him to go to the inquiry.
He also added that he’d been out of the country when the letter was sent, and had a visa to prove what he was saying was true.

Turner went to the Police station to explain the situation as soon as his wife gave him the letter.
He admitted the charge in court and was subsequently handed the fine by Relief Magistrate Nuno Santos-Costa.
