Reminder: early voting starts on Wednesday…

Monday 29 September 2014

With pre-poll voting opening on Wednesday, bosses are being urged to get behind the Chamber of Commerce’s “15 minutes for your future” campaign to give staff time to go and have their say.

Polling day is not until Wednesday 15th October, but the special pre-polling station opens this week, allowing anyone from any district to cast their vote.

The pre-polling station has been set up to try to improve on Jersey’s dismal voter turnout, and the Chamber of Commerce is getting behind the idea by calling on bosses to give staff the time to go and cast their votes during the work day.

So far, JT, Romerils, Grant Thornton, Gold Money, Calligo, aMaizin! Adventure Park and KPMG have all signed up.

Opening times at the pre-polling station at St Paul’s Centre are 8 am to 6 pm on weekdays until the Friday before election day – but if you’re going, you need to make sure that you take some photo ID.

A one-off pre-polling station will also be at Communicare in St Brelade on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm, with another one-off pre-polling station will be open at Trinity Youth Centre next Saturday (the 11th October) from 9 am to 2 pm.
